427108 Intelligent 8 Port RS232 Controller
427108 ISA PC card High Performance Serial Connectivity
- The Easiest Way to Add COM Ports to Your PC System

When you find that you have more machines than ports, ADR offers a quick, cost-effective solution. Each board adds 8 COM ports to your PC using only a single  PC slot and no IRQs. This multiport card makes serial connectivity more powerful, reliable, easier to use, and more cost effective than any other controller available today. It is ideal for factory floor serial communication networking.

At the core of the electronics is an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) that enables the card to transmit and receive data safely at all rates. Along with improved throughput speed and reduced load on the host system CPU, the ASIC also adds increased board reliability - the longest mean time between failures of any multiport serial card currently on the market.

Unique, Powerful ASIC-Based Architecture Means Fast and Reliable Data Throughput

Faster Performance is driven by specially designed ASICs that optimize I/O functionality.

More Reliable ASICs replace virtually all major hardware components, resulting in fewer chances for failure. Flow control and line disciplines are in the ASIC firmware to help boost I/O processing speed. The ASICs focus on preserving absolute data integrity and moving it at maximum speed, while keeping CPU utilization to a minimum.

More Efficient Large transmit-and-receive FIFOs optimize data transfer. With smaller buffers, a card must stop each time the buffer fills and wait for the data to clear, which reduces overall performance. The transmit FIFOs are 16 times larger, and receive FIFOs 64 times larger than ports implemented with 16550 UARTs

I/O Mapping Prevents Memory Conflicts Most serial cards use shared, dual-port memory, which can cause conflicts with other hardware and software products. Our card is I/O memory mapped to avoid shared memory conflicts, which makes configuration, and port expansion easy and hassle-free.
